东方日现西难见，
雪暴北国南拭汗。
才息辘辘难民饥，
又报聒聒刀斧乱。
万国旗卷东河岸，
千虑一得多论辩。
回天无力计难寻，
犹有和平心万片。

The East sees dawn while the West still lies in night;
North shivers in snow, South wipes sweat in the heat.
Some flee from famine, scarce freed from hunger’s plight,
Yet new noise of axes and blades spreads defeat.
Flags of all nations fly by the East River shore,
Yet debates drag on—few ideas take flight.
Though power to turn the tide seems now no more,
A million hearts still beat for peace, shining bright.
